Federation of BiH to put Hundred newly built Solar Power Plants into Operation

There are no longer any legal obstacles to putting about a hundred newly built solar power plants into operation in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as soon as possible, which two power companies have been resisting for a long time, hiding behind the fact that there are no legal conditions for such a move. In fact, the recently adopted set of federal laws on electric power does not point to any of these obstacles.

Looking for a comment on this in the committee of the International Council for Large Electric Systems CIGRE, the Indikator portal learns that issuing permits for the connection of new solar power plants is the exclusive obligation of electricity distribution companies, which are expected to work more energetically and responsibly in this work.

“In the new management of Elektroprivreda BiH, the management of electricity distribution should be taken over by Edisej Sjerotanović, who we believe will start such activities very quickly,” said Edhem Bičakčić, president of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Committee of CIGRE.

Let’s remind, at the gatherings of this professional association in the past year, on several occasions, the problem of non-issuance of permits and connections for new solar power plants was warned, which discouraged their investors, and practically rejected potential ones.

About a hundred new power plants with a total power of about 50 megawatts is a serious potential in the overall effort to speed up the process of obtaining green energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina by decarbonizing the energy sector.
