Female Football Players break Records on the Pitch, but also Stereotypes outside of it

The FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand broke attendance records. Women’s football is attracting more and more attention from fans and worldwide media, which is considered a turning point for this sport. Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) reached the playoffs in the qualifiers for this World Cup, which, they say, is a great success, compared to the state’s approach and investments. The club in BiH with the most trophies, SFK 2000 Sarajevo, proves that money is not the most important thing in football.

Veronika Terzic is a new member of SFK 2000 Sarajevo. She has loved football since childhood and has been training for a decade.

“I don’t think we should talk about men’s or women’s football at all, but we should talk about football in general. It is one sport, it is played in the same way, so it is no longer a women’s or a men’s sport, but just a sport,” Veronika Terzic states.

SFK is finishing the preparations for this season and hopes for the 22nd title of National Champions. Their goal this season is greater success at international competitions. The coach hopes for greater support.

The contracts, the interest of the audience, and the sponsors of male and female soccer players differ significantly. However, this year’s Women’s World Cup showed that this perception is improving.

“In general, in the world, women’s football is growing and the salaries are also higher than they used to be, everything is rising to a higher level. It is definitely getting better here in our country as well, but I think that BiH in general needs to progress even more, from the beginning, from the Football Association of BiH onwards, so that the clubs would be much better and more satisfied,” Terzic concluded, Slobodna Evropa reports.
