The number of infected police officers has increased in the Ministry of the Interior – Sarajevo Canton Police Administration, “Avaz” has learned.

As confirmed, these are 15 employees of the Ministry of the Interior of the CS-Police Administration, who fell ill with COVID-19 in the past 20 days.

As new cases emerge, people who have had contact with the infected are sent to self-isolation. According to unofficial data from “Avaz”, the epidemiological situation has worsened among police officers, considering the work they perform.

The number of people infected with the coronavirus who are housed in the KCUS isolator in Podhrastovi is growing.

General Director of KCUS Sebija Izetbegovic told Radiosarajevo.ba that 75 patients are currently housed in the isolation ward, and the admission of two more has been announced.

Currently, one patient is on a respirator.

Director Izetbegovic warned that the situation was serious a few days ago and said that Podhrastovi has a capacity of 85 beds, but that conditions can be created for accommodation in a total of 100.

If capacity is filled, she warned, the health system will be severely disrupted.

In the past 24 hours, 1,016 samples were tested in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which 174 were positive for coronavirus.
