A timely reaction of the system that would have removed such a man from the streets was clearly absent. The administrators of social networks who allowed the broadcast of such brutal recordings also failed, and especially humanity, because there was a considerable number of those who supported this bloody feast.
Nermin Sulejmanović, after brutally beating his unmarried wife, shot her in the forehead at 9:30 am. Cold-blooded, just as he cold-bloodedly broadcast the murder via the Instagram social network. About 4 hours passed until his next call. During that time he killed three more people. His response was while the police of Tuzla Canton were actively looking for him. How is it possible to sow fear and death in a small town for hours, and that it took so long for those responsible for the investigation to locate the suspect. How long does it take to locate the suspect from the moment the mobile number of the suspect in the commission of a crime is submitted to the services that can reach the location in their authority?
“From receiving the information to sitting down, it takes five minutes for the system to locate where it was last time,” answers investigator Saša Petrović.
According to experts, it takes five minutes to get to the location. The inevitable question is how it is possible that the footage of the murder was available for hours on Nermin Sulejmanović’s Instagram profile. The Federal Police Administration receives a request from the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office only after a few hours to remove the footage.
“The Federal Police Administration did only this part of removing the video, according to the oral request of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Tuzla Canton. “We received a call from the Prosecutor’s Office at 12:27 – in about 20 minutes, the company Meta removed the video,” Petrović points out.
Now that nothing is clear to us – one thing is. That Nermin Sulejmanović is already known to the police for committing other crimes, and is also known for domestic violence. The trigger for this monstrous act is the report of his unmarried wife for physical violence – or just for a few slaps, as he said in his second report. What is the message sent to women who are currently victims of those who consider them their property?
“We must act more energetically, promptly and try – in this way we certainly do not send a good image to potential victims. Unfortunately, I often get frustrated when I hear – you have everything at your disposal. However, not everything is available. It would have been available in this case if it had been done much earlier, to control the actions of the police administrations, how they act upon the report”, warns Nedžad Korajlić, professor at the Faculty of Criminology, Criminology and Security Studies.
And there is no such emotion that will not overwhelm a healthy person today. Who else is responsible in the chain of those who are obliged and responsible to protect citizens?
“A man can only be dumbfounded. Personally, if I could, I would take anyone who raises a hand to a woman or a child to a court of law. Such people should never see the light of day again. Unfortunately, things like this are becoming more common in the world, in the region and in our country. Centers for social work, the police have a great responsibility – to protect victims in time. Women should not suffer and tolerate any raised tone. Here we also have problems with the fact that our society does not pay attention to the mental health of citizens. Once again, I want to express my condolences to all the families of the victims,” said BiH Security Minister Nenad Nešić.
Were there any omissions by the police of Tuzla Canton as well as the acting prosecutor? Will – and when he finds the strength to report the violence – will the victim of the institution’s failure pay with his life? Will anyone – if not to defend their professional honor and reputation, then at least because of their conscience – resign? Will we finally touch the ground in this bottom? If not, today there is more than enough reason to understand that there are no words that can describe this horror, Federalna writes.
