Srebrenica Film at the Festivals nap.baThe documentary ”The Fog of Srebrenica”, directed by Samir Mehanovic, was included in the programs of the prestigious film festivals in Amsterdam and Istanbul.

Namely, it is the second version of the documentary ”Srebrenica Survivors”, which was premiered on BBC on July 11th.

As the director Mehanovic said, the film will be screened at the International Crime and Punishment Film Festival in Istanbul and the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam (IDFA).

”I am especially happy because the film will be screened at the world festivals during the entire year and that it will be spoken about Srebrenica even past the July 11th. This is a film for future generations which will preserve the memory of the biggest crime in Europe after the Second World War, as well as of the heroes, the characters in this film, who possess an enormous strength”, said Mehanovic.

Mehanovic stated that it is a shocking and concerning fact that this film will be screened in the British Parliament, and that it will not be screened in the Parliament of B&H.

”It only speaks of the fact that certain politicians do not care about making a healthy and constructive dialogue, but that they care about negating the past”, said this director, adding that some politicians only worry about political points when they appear in Potocari on July 11th.

Mehanovic reminded that the film was also screened at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival.

”After the projection, people from the US, Italy, Sweden, Germany and England approached me. They said that they were very touched by the film. They also said that they have heard that the genocide happened in Srebrenica, but that they have only found out about the details after they have seen the stories of the survivors”, Mehanovic said.

Namely, this director who lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland, is currently working on a film on the Syrian refugees.
