Final Details about the Opening of Ferhadija Mosque

13184687_1173427189374902_1647146296_oOne day prior to the opening of the Ferhadija Mosque in Banja Luka, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska Dragan Lukač, Director of the Police of Republika Srpska Gojko Vasić and Head of the Public Security Center Banja Luka Boško Pandža held a press conference. They highlighted that all security conditions are fulfilled and that they guarantee safety to all visitors.

Minister Lukač emphasized that the opening of Ferhadija Mosque and its reconstruction are very important for the city of Banja Luka and that the security agencies of RS will undertake all necessary activities to ensure that this event passes in peace and dignity.

“With the aim of securing the event of the opening of Ferhadija Mosque, a security headquarters was established and it has been actively working for a while now. Over 1.000 police officers will be engaged. We expect numerous delegations from different countries. This is a major event which has to be well secured and all preparations are completed,” said Lukač.

Lukač pointed out that this event will be followed in the region and broader and that it is the objective of RS to make everything in the best possible way.

“The most important thing is to send a message of peace and co-existence from Banja Luka. This city has to show that it is ready for a tolerant relation for the co-existence that it should have,” Lukač said.

“All preparations have been implemented successfully, thus we hope this event will pass in dignity,” said the Director of the Police of Republika SrpskA Gojko Vasić.

Apart from the police of RS, other security agencies from BiH will also participate in securing this event. Traffic will be suspended in the vicinity of the mosque today already, and certain catering facilities will also not work.

As Boško Pandža highlighted, around 10.000 people will come to the opening of the Ferhadija Mosque, including over 100 buses. Police checkpoints will be placed at the entrance to Banja Luka, where passenger vehicles of those coming to the opening will be controlled. In addition to that, police controls in the city will be intensified as well.

Although the information that the Prime Minister of Turkey in resignation Ahmet Davutoglu will not attend the opening, the organizers announced today after the meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Turkey in BiH that Davutoglu will attend the ceremony after all.

The police of RS once again highlighted that there is no threat to anyone’s safety.
