In the Ski center of Ravna mountain, yesterday was the solemnly opened the cabin cable car – gondola, the first of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

The gondola is installed on the Ravna mountain ski resort in Pale, and by model of the world ski resorts, it will crown this winter season and put it in the line of the prestigious winter tourism destinations and enrich the touristic offer of this part of BiH.

In the presence of a large number of citizens and mascot of European Youth Olimpic Festival (EYOF) – Groodvy, a project was released and it is planned to be operational throughout the year.

In this first phase, the length of the gondola path to the top of the Ravna mountain is 1.350 meters, and in the end of the project, more precisely by connecting with Jahorina, the length of this path will be close to six kilometers, it was announced.

The gondola capacity is 2.200 skiers per hour, and it has a total of 19 cabins, 18 for the passengers transport and one service cabin. 10 passengers can be accommodated in each. The starting station is 900 meters above sea level, and the exit, ie the first intermediate station is at 1.350 m above sea level.

The ticket price for the gondola is 5 BAM.

Ski center spokeswoman, Borislava Purkovic, emphasized that the gondola would move from the restaurant at the foothill of the Ravna mountain to the top of the main pathway, where there are artificial snow lakes and a new catering facility from where visitors can enjoy a wonderful view.

She said that the Ski center offers seven and a half kilometers of skiing trails built to the highest standards, and the 1.400-meter main trail fulfills all the world standards used to organize the Fis-race.

Owner of the Ski center, Veljko Golijanin, said that this gondola is certainly one of the biggest in the Balkans.

The value of the first phase to the launching of the gondola in operation is close to 30 million BAM and everything was done in the “private direction” of the Ski center Ravna Mountain, and in the continuation of this project and the connection with Jahorina, they expect the involvement of the Olimpic center Jahorina as well as the competent institutions.

Ski center Ravna Mountain is located in the village of Gornje Pale, 20 kilometers from Sarajevo and two kilometers from the center of Pale. From the season 2014/2015 this ski resort is opened to all visitors and lovers of winter fun.
