As the only internationally accredited faculty in the field of business studies with the longest tradition in BiH, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo is the initiator and creator of the first regional event on the topic of innovations based on the Triple-Helix model, the regional innovation summit under the name Sarajevo Innovation Summit 2018. The summit will take place on May 7, 2018, at 9:30 AMin the Hotel Europe and it will bring together leading experts from the business and public sectors, and the academic community in the field of innovations.

Speakers on this year’s summit will be: Doc. Dr. Amila Pilav-Velic, Prof.Dr. Muharem Sabic, Prof. Dr. Carsten Dreher, Marjana Majeric, MSc. Nina Brankovic, Prof. Dr. Jasmina Selimovic, Prof. Dr. Petar Vrgovic, Prof. Dr. Michele Grimaldi, MSc. Muamer Mahmutovic, MSc. Emina Osmanagic and Enisa Mesic.

This summit will further contribute to more open dialogue in the sense of reducing the gap that exists between the labour market and higher education institutions in relation to creating new market-related knowledge and skills, but also on defining recommendations for the improvement of the environment, which will be stimulating for innovations and entrepreneurial activity.

This kind of cooperation between the educational and business sectors will promote regional economic growth, creation of new workplaces, and a really important role of higher education in that sense, as well as reducing the gap that exists between research institutions and the business sector by increasing the innovative capacity of the academic community.

The first regional summit of innovations will be supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Government of the FBiH, USAID, European Commission, the Ministry of Economy of Canton Sarajevo, the Chamber of Commerce of Canton Sarajevo, Interreg, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC, Federal Ministry of BiH, the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Protection of the RS, Association XY, Digital Elephants, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry of the FBiH, Youth Council of the US Embassy to BiH, SIM, the Association Motivator, Hotel Europe Sarajevo.
