Spanish police arrested five people on Friday on charges of planning terrorist attacks on government buildings in the country, as well as institutions supporting Ukraine in several European countries.
Barcelona police arrested two Russians and a Belarusian, Colombian and Spanish citizen during the operation on suspicion of being linked to a terrorist organization, local media reported.
All five were described as “pro-Russian terrorists” and accused of planning terrorist attacks in several European countries, El Periodico reported.
The arrested individuals allegedly acted on the orders of a Russian citizen, whose name was not given by Barcelona police or the media, and planned terrorist attacks on governments and institutions supporting Ukraine, particularly in NATO member states.
The five suspects will be brought before the National Court in Madrid on charges of terrorism and membership in a terrorist organization.
