If everything goes according to plan, we expect that forensic psychiatry in Sokolac will begin its work in the second half of this year, said the BiH Spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice Marina Bakić for Fena.

According to her, all construction and architectural works are finished and now tenders for the procurement of medical and non-medical equipment are being gathered, which are necessary for the facilities to be put into function and to receive its first users.

Bakić said the the RS government, as a founder of this institution, signed an agreement with the government of Switzerland, which has pledged to provide 1.250.000 KM that are necessary to complete the equipment of the hospital.

“As I have already said, currently we are working on equipment purchases. I should point out that forensic psychiatry will be in the system of the RS health care institutions, but will serve all citizens of BiH, and convicts who are in a special program of treatment for various psychiatric disorders’’, said Bakić.

She added that an accommodation capacity of 200 people is expected, which is in accordance with EU standards.

She said that the entire facility was reconstructed in accordance with the highest European standards regarding safety, humanity and the protection of the human rights of people who will stay at the facility.
