Naser Orić Arrested klix.baNaser Orić, the wartime commander of Srebrenica, was arrested yesterday at the entrance to Geneva, confirmed the attorney Vasvija Vidović. She added that she was surprised herself and that she is still to get in contact with her client.

Orić was arrested on a warrant issued by the Republic of Serbia on the way to Switzerland, where he was to attend the marking of the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

The police intervention took him by surprise at the local airport.

The Interpol Belgrade issued the international arrest warrants for the commanders of the defense of Srebrenica Naser Orić and Hakija Meholjić in February 2014, on suspicion of having committed a war crime against the Serbian population in Srebrenica in 1992.
