Ramiz Dreković was acquitted of war crimes against civilians. This is the first-instance verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the former commander of the Fourth Corps of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Army.

Dreković was accused in the indictment that during the state of war and the armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina between the Army of the RBiH and the Army of the Republika Srpska, as commander of the 4th Corps of the ARBiH, he acted contrary to the rules of international humanitarian law.

The indictment accused Dreković of ordering indiscriminate attacks on Serbian civilians in Kalinovik from May 21 to June 7, 1995, by artillery units of the Fourth Corps in the town of Bjelimići (Konjic municipality).

According to reports, in the attack carried out on June 3, several projectiles fell near the school, during which a 15-year-old student was killed and four students were wounded. In the other two attacks, a four-year-old boy and another civilian were wounded.

Dreković’s trial began in March 2019.
