The Deputy Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Policy and Plans, Slaven Galić, received the Ambassador of Hungary to BiH Krisztián Pósa in Sarajevo on Tuesday.

The interlocutors discussed the military cooperation of the two countries, where the important role of the Hungarian contingent in the European Union Force (EUFOR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina was particularly highlighted. Deputy Minister Galić emphasized that Hungary is one of the key partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassador Pósa pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans are one of the key priorities for Hungary, which actively supports the Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of building peace and stability.

He emphasized that Hungary played one of the key roles in the realization of a donation from the European Peace Fund (EPF) of 10 million euros for demining equipment to the Armed Forces of BiH, and through the Mission of the Organization for European Security and Cooperation (OSCE/OSCE) in BiH, it helped and modernization of military warehouses in Bosanska Krupa and Kula. Also, with 200,000 vaccines, Hungary is at the top of the countries that have helped Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

– Every step for which there is a consensus in Bosnia and Herzegovina is of great importance to us and we will always be ready to support it – emphasized Ambassador Pósa.

Deputy Minister Galić thanked the Hungarian ambassador for all projects supporting the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and emphasized his openness to programs to expand this cooperation. Hungary will soon take over the presidency of the European Union, which both interlocutors see as an additional opportunity to increase cooperation, including Hungary’s readiness for development programs with companies of the military industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Policy and Plans, Danijela Bilić, the military envoy of Hungary to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colonel Attila Sándor, and the diplomatic representative of the Hungarian Embassy for NATO affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Csaba Félegyházi, announced the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of BiH.
