General Collective Contract: the lowest Wage increased

workersThe general collective contract for the territory of FBiH became effective, confirmed the Federation of Independent Unions of BiH. Selvedin Šatorović, Vice-President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH, said that this contract increased the lowest wage in FBiH from the former 360 BAM to the present 406 BAM.

“As you already know, we were already expecting the publishing of the general collective contract that was signed on February 10 this year. There is another thing about this contract – the FBiH Government must expand it to cover all workers in the FBiH. That has not been done so far, and I hope it will be done in the coming period. One positive thing about this contract is that its entering into force increased the lowest wage in FBiH to 406 BAM,” Šatorović said.

Šatorović explained that the failure to publish the general collective contract was not an obstacle for adjusting the branch collective contracts.

“We have certain difficulties given that the merits of the general collective contract itself were not entered anywhere. Those are still just negotiations so that any negotiations or discussions would be led. In order to speed it all up, we request from the FBiH Government to complete the adjustment of branch collective contracts within the legal timeframe, no later than August 15. The Union will not accept any procrastinating,” Šatorović said.

Šatorović added that they support the negotiating team of the Government, Union and the Employers’ Association in the process of adjusting the existing branch collective contracts with the new general collective contract and the Labor Law.
