Girls who change the World – ‘IT Girls Club’ in Bihac

In the Bihac High School, with the change of generations, and with the new, younger teaching staff, new ideas came. In this high school, thanks to professor Edina Karadžić, the “IT Girls Club” was formed, in which students of all grades, with the help of Arduino equipment, work hard and clearly show that there is a place for them in the world of robotics and programming, which by unwritten rule somehow often considered a male occupation.

After attending a seminar called “IT Girls are coming to your schools”, professor Edina Karadžić returned to the school where she teaches with a new idea. Her idea has now grown into a successful club.

“The goal of this club is to empower girls and show them that they are capable of participating in the IT world just like their male counterparts. “Basic projects such as making a traffic light, a display that prints messages, we are currently also preparing for the fair of IT Girls clubs, and there we are working on some slightly bigger projects,” said Karadzic.

Under the slogan “Girls who change the world”, this club gathered 37 students of this school and devoted all its attention to them.

“The girls motivate us, and in addition, they show us the importance of computer science and the like not only for men, but also for girls,” says Farah Mujić, a student in the first grade of high school.

“I was most intrigued by the fact that all the attention is focused on the girls and that we are doing projects that we are not able to do in class,” explains Emina Karabegović, a fourth grade high school student.

Their vision is success and equality. And despite the fact that they very often encounter gender discrimination, as the students say, their club is the perfect place to start their success.

“A place where we can prove ourselves in the IT world, if we didn’t have the opportunity to do so before, and I think that the projects we do here are useful for the world that will be waiting for us outside the gymnasium, outside the university, in the world of adults,” said Mia Piccolotti, a student first grade of high school.

According to the professor, this is the perfect opportunity for schoolgirls to form the most beautiful dreams of success in this way, all with the goal that in the future, those who are so strong, successful and smart, will jointly contribute to the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because – the world rests on them, Federalna writes.
