The Government of the Canton of Sarajevo established today the Program of measures to stimulate employment and maintain a higher employment rate and improve the structure of employees in the Canton of Sarajevo in 2024, for the implementation of which 13,088,623 BAM has been allocated.

The funds were provided by the Financial Plan of the Employment Service of the Canton of Sarajevo, which the Government entrusted with the implementation of the measures.

Through seven programs, an incentive was given to employ the best students and necessary staff in scientific and educational institutions, as well as doctors of medicine, veterinary medicine and dentistry, unemployed persons with VSC and VŠS, and an incentive to start activities and self-employment.

Support will also be provided for hiring the missing professional workforce that employers can hardly find, as well as the employment program for the families of martyrs and families of fallen soldiers – veterans, minor demobilized soldiers, war disabled soldiers and their family members, and the employment program in the communal economy, social protection and culture.

The employment program “Gold and Silver Badge” is planned with the aim of encouraging the employment of the best students and providing the necessary personnel in scientific and educational institutions in the area of Sarajevo Canton. Bearing in mind the fact that due to the lack of financial resources, scientific and educational institutions are not able to independently hire certain professional staff, and they have an increased need to hire staff, the above-mentioned incentive measure was initiated, announced the Protocol and Press Service of the Canton of Sarajevo.

Given that there is a constant need for health institutions to hire medical doctors, veterinary doctors and dental doctors, a program for the employment of the aforementioned personnel is also planned.

This incentive measure is also in accordance with the conclusion of the Assembly of the Canton of Sarajevo, which ordered to ensure the employment and internship of medical doctors, who are becoming more and more scarce in the Canton of Sarajevo every year, and who are necessary for the normal functioning of the health system.

Also, in order to stimulate people to start their own business and provide themselves with employment and the realization of a business idea, the implementation of the Self-Employment Program is planned.

Since unemployed people do not have initial capital and it is difficult for them to decide to start their own business, in this way, it is explained, they are trying to be stimulated and encouraged to realize their business ideas with the financial support of the Service.

The Employment Program for Martyrs’ Families and Families of Fallen Soldiers – Veterans, Minor Demobilized Soldiers, War Disabled Soldiers and Their Family Members will also be implemented.

In order to employ difficult-to-employ categories and integrate them into the labor market in the Sarajevo Canton, the mentioned measure is planned, which provides that unemployed persons from the target category in the Employment Service will receive a voucher and find an employer. On the other hand, as stated, the opportunity opens up for the employer to get the necessary workforce with his minimal resources. The competent cantonal ministry underlined that the amendments to the law enabled unemployed demobilized soldiers, who will apply for employment programs, to suspend the right to subsistence allowance.

Through the Employment Program, it will also be possible for long-term unemployed persons with VSC and VŠS, with and without work experience and seniority, to receive a voucher from the Service and find an employer.

The employment program “Jobs for all” is aimed at hiring the missing professional workforce, within which all criteria in terms of seniority and work experience will be abolished.

Namely, on the labor market in the Sarajevo Canton there is a deficit and a lack of professional workforce that employers can hardly find and retain, so through such incentive measures the payment of higher wages to the missing staff and their stay in the Sarajevo Canton is stimulated.

In order to stimulate the employment of hard-to-employ and vulnerable categories of unemployed persons, and for the purpose of carrying out work of wider social interest, the implementation of the Employment Program in the communal economy, forestry and cultivation works, social protection, culture and fair events is foreseen.

Public invitations to participate in the implementation of the program will soon be published on the website of the Sarajevo Canton Employment Service, according to the announcement.
