What the Government promised in the Letter of Intent to the IMF?

parliamentIn yesterday’s session of the House of Representatives and House of Peoples of the FBiH was debated about the meaning of the session, which was aimed to verify the new credit indebtedness of the citizens of FBiH with the IMF. Representatives of the opposition had especially critical views on the work of the Government of FBiH.

Special critics on the work of the Federal Government were addressed because of the certain parts of the Letter of Intent to the IMF, to which representatives of the SDP believe that abounds in mistakes and illogicalities.

Nermin Niksic, representative of the SDP BiH said that it seems that the IMF never read this letter of intent because if they read it they would see the absurd inside of it.

Specifically, in the part of the letter of intent that is related to the strengthening of public finances, it was stated that the Federal Government will adopt a program of credit or funding through grants for those cantons that agree to adopt plans for wage restraint and a reduction of total employment, which will be fully complied with the plan of the FBiH by the end of December 2016.

Although it is assumed that it was an unintentional mistake of the Federal Government, the opposition doubts that they only signed a letter of intent, which has been prepared in advance.

However, both Houses of the Parliament FBiH  gave their approval to the Government of FBiH for a new loan in the amount of one billion and 80 million BAM, although the first tranche of money has already been paid to the account of the Central Bank of BiH.
