Gracanica knittingFor several weeks, near 200 women from the Association “Gracanica knitting“, almost without an interruption, are making Srebrenica Flowers, a symbol that reminds to the genocide against Bosniaks from Srebrenica and surrounding areas in 1995.

Azemina Ahmedbegovic, president of the Association said that activists of the Association will make more than 10.000 flowers that will be sold at a symbolic price in Sarajevo in font of the BBI Center, Bihac, Tuzla, Mostar and Zenica.

“We also sent a large number of floers to our diaspora. This symbol means a lot to them. They see it as an identity card, something that connects them with a homeland“, said Azemina.

As she said, she is sad because the State does not finance the making of the Srebrenica flower, so they could divide it for free.

“On that way, it would come to a larger number of people“, said Azemina.

Srebrenica Flower became a world popular symbol, that reminds on an innocent killed Bosniaks during the genocide in the Eastern Bosnia in 1995, in a burst of the Serbian forces to the protected zone of the UN.
