The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has appointed Emily Coffman Krunic as the tenth Mission Director of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mission. She most recently served as the Deputy Mission Director for USAID Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mission Director Coffman Krunic began her career in international development in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1997, working with a number of international organizations to support independent media, democratic elections, reconciliation, and institutional capacity development. She joined USAID in 2008, and has served at USAID Missions around the world, including in Afghanistan, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, and Rwanda, as well as in assignments in Washington, DC.

“I am thrilled to take the helm of the USAID Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country that I know well and care deeply about,” said Mission Director Coffman Krunic. “I look forward to leading USAID’s dedicated team as we continue our three decade-strong partnership with the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina to build a more stable, democratic, and resilient future.”

Ms. Coffman Krunic succeeds Ms. Courtney Chubb, who served as Mission Director of USAID Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2021-2024, and is retiring after a 25 year career with USAID.

“I may be saying farewell, but the USAID Bosnia and Herzegovina team remains as strong and committed as ever to the success and prosperity of this country,” said Ms. Chubb. “USAID will continue to partner with you to advance a secure, prosperous, democratic and European Bosnia and Herzegovina where all citizens have opportunities to build better lives for themselves and their families.”
