13250526_1184963561554598_549131888_nFederal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić met yesterday with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britani and Northern Ireland to BiH Edward Ferguson at the premises of the Government of FBiH in Sarajevo.

Main topic of the meeting was the design of energy strategy on national and federal level, which was supported by the British Ambassador because that is one of the obligations from the Agreement on Energy Community and a way of following the guidelines of the energy policy of the European Union.

Minister Džindić informed the Ambassador Ferguson that the Project Assignment for the design of Energy Strategy for FBiH for the period 2015-2035, with a projection until 2050, as adopted at the 51st session of the FBiH Government upon the proposal by the federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry. Džindić pointed out that the Strategy involves a complete reform of energy sector with the final aim of building the sector in accordance with the European standards. Project Assignment defines the basic elements for the design of Energy Strategy on the basis of the analysis of the current situation and with full awareness of the internal and external factors that influence the energy sector of FBiH. This procedure will be implemented through public procurement, i.e. with the selection of a consulting firm for the design of the Strategy, and in accordance with the Law on Public Procurement this ministry will implement this process.

Džindić especially highlighted that procedures for design, consideration and adoption of this strategic document have also been defined.

„In this process, we shuold go parallel with the design of strategy on the national level because those are the documents that ‘overlap’. The Strategy should actually contain basic guidelines for entity strategies and show the way that should be followed,“ Džindić said and informed the British diplomat about the degree of implementation of energy projects and about plans for the future.

Ambassador Ferguson said that there is great interest of companies from Great Britain in certain energy projects in BiH.
