Great Opportunities for improving Economic Cooperation between BiH and India?

ChhabraIn recent years, the Republic of India records accelerated economic development with a respectable software technology, and therefore, non-resident Ambassador of India to BiH Rahul Chhabra considers a wide range of possibilities for improving economic cooperation between India and BiH.

Ambassador Chhabra said that 21 years already passed since diplomatic relations between BiH and India and that they should continue with the improvement of good and friendly relations, exchange of visits at high and highest levels, but also to intensify activities in connection with the signing of agreements on cooperation in the field of culture, science and education.

“This would create conditions for the realization of already announced projects of the establishment of information technology centers at universities in Sarajevo and Banja Luka,” said Ambassador Chhabra, adding that there is a wide range of possibilities for improving economic cooperation between India and BiH in the field of railway transport and infrastructure.

He reminded that Economic Forum for Western and Eastern Europe is held in India every year, “but businessmen can make the new value if there is an exchange of information, meeting”.

Embassy of India in Budapest facilitated obtaining visas for India, by introducing electronic visas for tourists, as well as business visas, and therefore the number of visits of BH citizens increased.

He noted that in 2015 was issued a total of 91 visas, and 144 visas electronically in 2016. In 2015 was issued 17 business visas, and in 2016, a total of 21 business visas.

Tourists from India are coming to BiH, especially in the winter and in spring, and they are “impressed by the beauty of BiH, they enjoy skiing, food, walks, architecture, hospitality”.

BiH and India have a very good cultural cooperation, India is the guest of honor of this year’s Sarajevo Winter Festival, which involves 1,500 artists, and the sponsor is ambassador Chhabra.

“There is room for greater cooperation between BiH and India, both countries have a rich offer, businessmen from India have an incentive to invest in infrastructure, technology projects, but do not have the support of local authorities,” concluded the non-resident Ambassador of India to BiH, based in Budapest, Rahul Chhabra.
