Greta Thunberg Announces Upcoming Visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has announced that she will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of her tour of the countries of the region and support for other climate activists.

Thunberg is currently in Belgrade to support, as she stated, “the local fight for freedom, against corruption and against the exploitation of nature.”

Swedish climate and human rights activist Greta Thunberg made international headlines in June 2025 after joining a humanitarian mission bound for Gaza.

However, contrary to speculation, Thunberg undertook no public travel engagements during the month of July, according to available international media reports.

Thunberg participated in the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s mission aboard the vessel Madleen, which set sail from Catania, Sicily on June 1. The boat carried symbolic humanitarian aid, including baby formula, flour, medical supplies, and prosthetic devices, in an attempt to challenge Israel’s longstanding blockade of the Gaza Strip.

On June 9, Israeli naval forces intercepted and boarded the vessel in international waters, redirecting it to the port of Ashdod. Thunberg, along with 11 other international activists, was detained and subsequently deported. The group’s actions drew both praise and criticism globally, reigniting debate over humanitarian access to Gaza.

“This was a kidnapping in international waters,” Thunberg stated after her release, calling on world leaders to act more decisively in defense of human rights and international law.

Despite heightened public interest in her movements, there has been no confirmation of any new travels or public appearances by Thunberg during July 2025. Her social media channels and environmental networks remained focused on post-flotilla debriefings and preparations for autumn climate events.

Thunberg remains one of the most influential global voices on climate justice and humanitarian advocacy, and her next public engagements are expected to be announced later this summer.
