Hamas Offers New Deal: Hostage Release in Exchange for End to Gaza War

The Palestinian militant group Hamas has again offered to release Israeli hostages in exchange for an end to the war in Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.

Hamas believes that the blood of Gaza’s children and Israeli hostages are victims of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ambitions to remain in power and thus avoid prosecution.

“The equation is clear: the release of prisoners in exchange for an end to the war. The world accepts it, but Netanyahu rejects it. Every day of delay means more killings of defenseless civilians among our people and an unknown fate for the occupation’s prisoners,” Hamas concluded in a statement.

Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza on March 18, after a nearly two-month ceasefire, which was condemned by France, Jordan and Egypt, among other countries.

Since then, at least 1,391 people have been killed and 3,434 wounded in Gaza, while the total number of Palestinians killed since October 2023 has exceeded 50,700, Tanjug reports.
