Happy Hockey Day Tournament for Children in Zetra

This weekend in Zetra, there will be an International Hockey Tournament ”Happy Hockey Day” for girls and boys up to 10 years and its aim is to revive hockey in BIH.

At press conference, president of Olympic Committee of BiH Siniša Kisić, president of Hockey club ”Stari Grad” Adnan Mrkva, coach of BHL Kids League Ermin Hasović and coach and representative of Canadian Organisation ‘Hockey Without Borders’ Kevin Auerbach talked about the upcoming event.

Kisić said that the Olympic Committee will give its full support to this event, because it will help the developmnet of hockey, which is one of the EYOF disciplines. Kisić added that he’s glad that so many talented young hockey players will participate at this event.

Mrkva said that the importance of ”Happy Hockey Day” is in reviving and making popular hockey in BiH. He added that many teams from the region will come, such as Crvena zvezda, Partizan Spartak Subotica, NS Stars Novi Sad and HHL Sisak, and also BiH clubs Vukovi, Medvjedi and Ajkula.

Mrkva noted that around 120 children will participate at this event.

Auerbach said that the organisation ‘Hockey Without Borders’ has its coaches in BiH and Serbia, and they plan to spread to Croatia, Bulgaria and Turkey. The aim of the organisation is to make hockey more popular.

Auerbach added that hockey players in BiH have the potentials, and if they continue to work like that, they will achieve good results.
