The Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska entity, Radovan Viskovic, met with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, in Banja Luka. The interlocutors discussed current activities related to the European integration process, and emphasized mutual commitment to BiH’s European path.
Viskovic and Sattler exchanged views on several laws of importance for BiH’s European path, with special reference to the proposal for a new law on public procurement in BiH, which is currently in the parliamentary procedure.
The Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska thanked Sattler for his selfless support of BiH’s European path.
He pointed out that the Republika Srpska is committed to the process of European integration, by fulfilling the conditions for acquiring the status of a candidate.
Sattler also met with the President of the Republika Srpska, Zeljka Cvijanovic, who pointed out that RS is committed to the process of European integration, in accordance with the rules and principles of the coordination mechanism and with full respect for its constitutional position and the Dayton structure of BiH.
She stressed the need to take a pragmatic approach to BiH, in terms of meeting the conditions on its European path.
The meeting discussed the process of European integration, the dynamics of realization of key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission for BiH, as well as the prospects of obtaining candidate status for membership in the European Union.
The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina will be in Banja Luka today and tomorrow, where he will meet with representatives of the entity and city authorities, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations.
