The visit of BiH’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija to India was an excellent opportunity to meet with the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs Salman Kurshid, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Preenet Kaur and his colleagues to make an inventory of bilateral relations between BiH and India, announced the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of BiH for Bilateral Relations Amer Kapetanović, who accompanied Lagumdžija on his visit to India.

“We agreed that by the end of this year to hold bilateral political consultations, where we would resolve misunderstandings on the issue of signing an agreement of eliminating visas for holders of diplomatic passports, as a prelude to further liberalization of the visa regime. We have emphasized the importance of opening an Embassy of India in Sarajevo as a sign of the arrival of a new stage in our relations’’, said Kapetanović.

According to him, India will consider this possibility in the framework of the overall preparation for reform of the diplomatic network.

“We will continue intensive negotiations on an expert level in order to complete several important bilateral agreements in the area of science and technology. We have seen tremendous readiness and potential from their side to help us transfer smart technology in the area of renewable energy and in the IT industry. We have particularly agreed on concrete steps that would bring the most important Indian experts in the area of solar energy and biomass, and afterwards we could expect joint investment in this area. India is ready to open two IT centers, one in Sarajevo and the other in Banja Luka in order to establish a practical laboratory to transfer knowledge’’, said Kapetanović.

Minister Lagumdžija also had an impressive performance at the AMITY University and in the Industrial Association of India, “where we could hear concrete examples and applications of Indian investors who wish to invest in BiH”.
