In Bosnia and Herzegovina, there are currently 435,260 unemployed persons, and this is a historic minimum – said Muamer Bandic, director of the Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In a statement to journalists in Banja Luka, Bandic said that unemployment problems cannot be solved only by higher levels of government, but it is necessary to establish co-operation between public employment services and local communities and involve employers and educational institution, Vijesti.ba reports.

The municipalities, he added, have an important role, as they will identify the problems, opportunities and needs of the local labor market, which is one of the preconditions for creating new ones and defining better active employment measures.

BiH also faces the departure of the labor force, and Bandic confirmed that according to their official data, more than 16,090 people from BiH started their work on the Slovenian labor market last year and about 1,000 in German.

For the first quarter of 2019, the average monthly paid off net earning per person in employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 905 BAM, and the fourth quarter of 2018 amounted to 900 BAM, which represent that the average monthly paid off net earnings was nominally by 0,5% higher in the first quarter of 2019 as compared to the fourth quarter of 2018.

For the first quarter of 2019, the average monthly gross earnings per person in employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 1.394 BAM, and the fourth quarter of 2018 amounted to 1.388 BAM, which represents that the average monthly gross earnings in the first quarter of 2019 as compared to the fourth quarter of 2018 was nominally by 0,5% higher.

In March 2019, the average monthly gross earnings per person in employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 1.397 BAM, which represented the nominal decrease of 0,1% as compared to December 2018.

In comparison to March 2018 the average monthly gross earnings for the March 2019 was nominally by 3,4% higher, BiH Agency for Statistics data showed.
