The House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved the Proposal of the Federal Budget for 2023 tonight at the session in Sarajevo.
82 deputies voted for the Budget Proposal, while one abstained. No one voted against.
In order for the budget to become operational, it needs to be approved in the same text by both houses of the Federal Parliament.
The session of the House of Peoples has been called for tomorrow.
Since the House of Representatives approved 50 amendments to the Budget Proposal today, a possible identical decision by the House of Peoples tomorrow would mean that the budget can enter into force immediately after publication in the Official Gazette.
The House of Peoples can potentially act differently by possibly adopting its own, different amendments, and this would open the procedure for harmonizing the text because it must be uniform in order to enter into force.
The 50 amendments adopted today in the House of Representatives were proposed by a block of parties led by the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Eight parties.
The federal government has proposed that the budget for 2023 totals slightly more than 6.7 billion KM, 1.1 billion KM more than last year’s budget.
The proposed most important financial act of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is realistic and sustainable, according to the explanation given to the representatives of the Federal Minister of Finance Jelka Milićević, while the Prime Minister of FBiH Fadil Novalić, before the statement of the House of Representatives, said that real economic growth in FBiH, and not virtual, resulted in the growth of the budget.
