New Year’s Eve in Sarajevo was exciting and a large number of guests was recorded, so the general impression is positive, regardless of some complaints that the organization was bad. The mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, also announced the number of guests who came for the holiday.

In the period from December 29th, 2022 to January 2nd, 2023, 11.264 guests stayed in Sarajevo, and there were 21.971 overnight stays, which is significantly more than in the previous five years.

Namely, when it comes to the same period of 2021/2022, there were only 4.896 guests and 11.641 overnight stays, and the year before, which was one of those marked by the coronavirus pandemic, there were 2.173 guests and 4.885 overnight stays.

In the period 2019/2020, there were 6.299 guests and 14.256 overnight stays in Sarajevo, and a concert by Zeljko Joksimovicwas organized on that occasion.

Before the pandemic, the numbers were also not high, so in 2018/2019 there were 5.681 guests and 7.447 overnight stays, and the year before, 4.118 guests and 7.396 overnight stays. Zdravko Colic and Hari Varesanovic ushered people in Sarajevo in the new year.

Karic did not announce the New Year’s festivity in 2017 when a celebration was organized on the square with Dino Merlin, who gathered a record number of people at his concert.
