The average entire Formula 1 car costs almost $21 million, and the turbo engine alone can cost up to $18 million.

The remaining key components (chassis, transmission and aerodynamic elements) further increase the price, so the wings alone can cost $260,000.

A budget cap was introduced four years ago to curb costs, and it has been lowered to $140.4 million for the current season.

In Formula 1, there is also a “halo” protective device that is located above and around the driver’s head, designed to protect the head in the event of a collision or heavy objects falling on the cockpit.

It was introduced seven years ago as a mandatory safety measure in Formula 1, and is made of titanium and weighs about 7 kilograms.

Its price is around $17,000, the price of fuel reaches up to $31,000, while about $39,000 must be allocated for tires per race.

The price of the steering wheel is around $50,000, the full carbon brake system is as much as $78,000, the hydraulic system costs $170,000, and the chassis an incredible $707,000.

The turbo-hybrid engine costs around $18.3 million, while the gearbox costs $354,000, Klix.ba writes.

If you’re curious about the math and mechanics that race engineers use to configure these setups, you can explore how different gear sizes affect performance using a gear ratio calculator.
