The High Representative for BiH, Christian Schmidt, met with the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC), Sanin Bogunić, and other members of the Presidency of the HJPC of BiH, to discuss the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As announced by the Office of the High Representative, the focus of the discussions was on strengthening the rule of law and addressing the challenges that need to be overcome.

“The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH is crucial for the development of a rule of law state. The attempt by Republika Srpska to establish its own HJPC, which would violate the constitutional order of BiH, seriously threatens the functioning of the judiciary and the services it provides to citizens. State institutions of BiH are non-negotiable,” Schmidt warned.

He said that the international community remains firmly committed to supporting a single Council for the whole of BiH, which will ensure equal standards and protection of rights throughout BiH.
