The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, arrived today to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina and on that occasion handed over a donation of PCR tests. It is a donation from the National Directorate General for Hospitals of Hungary to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which consists of 40,032 pieces of PCR tests manufactured by Maccura worth 163,850,976 Hungarian forints.
Minister Szijjarto symbolically handed over the tests to the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Ankica Gudeljevic, and to the representatives of the competent health authorities of the entities and the Brcko District. The handover took place after Minister’s plane landed at the Sarajevo International Airport.
“The last days have put BiH in front of the biggest test so far. The number of infected and sick is growing every day. The unrest among the citizens is growing, the hospital capacities are full, the medical workers are too tired, but the fight against the virus must continue with the same force as if we were at the beginning. Today’s donation from our friendly Hungary and the National Directorate General for Hospitals of Hungary, which consists of 40,032 PCR tests, is more than welcome in these days when intensified testing of BiH residents is needed, “said Gudeljevic. She thanked for the donation with the hope that soon we will all welcome better days with much less infected. The Hungarian minister said that “the healthier your neighbor, the better for you”.
“It is obvious that we are helping in every way we can. We have compassion for solidarity with BiH and this is the fastest way we could help your citizens, “Szijjarto said.
He hopes the donation of about 40,000 PCR tests will help slow the spread of the coronavirus a bit.
“We know that this is the most serious challenge now and I hope that not only Hungary but the whole region will overcome it very soon,” he added.
During his one-day visit to BiH, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary will also meet with the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Biser Turkovic, BHRT writes.
