Miklos Soltesz, Secretary of State for Religious and National Affairs in the office of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, visited the construction site of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Mostar yesterday. On that occasion, he handed over a donation from the Government of Hungary of 66.000 euros.

Soltesz met with representatives of the Serbian community in Mostar, and on that occasion said that Hungary has good relations with the Serbian people, both in Serbia and outside Serbia. He also pointed out that Serbs in Hungary, as a national minority, have schools, churches, and cultural institutions that they support.

The Secretary of State of Hungary stressed that peace in the Balkans is important to his country and that it is, therefore, important for them to have good relations with all peoples in the Balkans.

Soltesz added that Hungary wants to participate in the renovation of the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and that the donation of 66.000 euros is not enough. He promised to launch an initiative for cooperation between the Serb community in Hungary and the Serb community in Mostar.

The Hungarian Secretary of State and his associates also attended the consecration of the “Prosvjeta School” building in Mostar, which was consecrated by Bishop Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and the Abbot of the Zitomislic Monastery Danilo Pavlovic and Mostar priests Radivoje Krulj and Nebojsa Radic.
