The Number of stolen Vehicles has significantly dropped in Canton Sarajevo

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo (CS) has released official data regarding the reduction of property crime and vehicle theft in the area, noting that this trend is continuing.

According to the data, it was highlighted that over the past four years, the number of property crimes in CS has decreased by nearly 30 percent.

“There are fewer serious thefts, robberies, and similar crimes. From January to June 2024, 852 incidents characterized as property crimes were recorded, which is a 23 percent decrease compared to the same period last year,” said the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs.

They also noted that the number of stolen vehicles has decreased.

“In the last nine years, the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs has recorded a significant decrease in the number of stolen passenger vehicles. In 2014, there were 825 cases of motor vehicle theft in the CS area, while in 2023, 59 motor vehicles were stolen, representing a 92.8 percent decrease,” they emphasized.

During the period from January to June 2024, they claim, 25 serious vehicle thefts were recorded, which is a 19.4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
