The inaugural round table of the EU funded project “Implementing One Stop Access to Budget Data” will take place on Monday, 22 April 2013, starting at 10:00 hrs, at the EU Delegation to BiH (Skenderija 3a) in Sarajevo.
All media are invited to take statements from participants before the beginning of the round table, at 09:45h.
The event will be opened by introductory remarks and presentations by Dr. Renzo Daviddi, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and representatives of the State and Entity Ministries of Finance. The round table will bring together representatives of the various government levels in BiH, NGOs and media representatives that will present and discuss topics regarding budget preparation, execution, outcomes and link between budget transparency and corruption in public sector. The round table should facilitate communication between participants and encourage their continuous dialogue regarding budgetary issues
Total value of the two-year project “Implementing One Stop Access to Budget Data”, which commenced in January 2013, is 127,722.00 EUR out of which the European Union provided 99,000.00 EUR from the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Programme 2011.
The project aims at initiating the broadest possible debate on efficiency, priorities, and especially effects of the budgeting process in Bosnia and Herzegovina; to educate and inform BiH citizens on budgeting processes, how to use the information about respective budgets and to raise awareness of the citizens on their right to freedom of information access to public finance information. Specifically, the project has the objective of strengthening citizens’ participation in democratic processes in BiH, and their interest and motivation in issues of public finance, distribution of national income and social development.
