After the traffic accident in which the young doctor Azra Spahic was killed, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo (CS) made a decision to strengthen preventive and repressive measures in traffic, which can be noticed in the city.

Police checks are more frequent, especially in the evening and on weekends, but mobile radars are stationed at different locations in Sarajevo during the day as well.

Last weekend, the CS Government announced such measures, saying that the number of police officers will be increased on the streets and that the work of the intervention police unit and the traffic safety unit in the field will be strengthened.

They stated that the number of police patrols at the most frequent intersections in the city increased, especially in the period from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

An increase in the number of mobile radars and interceptors was also announced, which was done in the previous days, and the citizens are still waiting for the promise of installing cameras in Sarajevo to be realized. What the citizens could notice was the increased work of the police.

The fatal accident, after which the authorities started regulating the traffic situation in CS, happened on Friday, May 26th, half an hour before midnight. Armin Berberovic, driving without a driver’s license and in an intoxicated state, hit three pedestrians, one of whom died, the second is in a serious, life-threatening condition, and the third has serious injuries.
