The prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against four people who are accused of war crimes against Bosniak civilians in the area of Zvornik.
Charges have been brought against: Dragan Spasojević, born in 1965 in the municipality of Zvornik, previously convicted, citizen of BiH and Republic of Serbia, Vinko Radović, born in 1959 in the municipality of Zvornik, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia, Vasić Dragomir, born in 1964 in Tuzla, citizen of BiH and Republic of Serbia, and Petko Panić, born in 1952 in the municipality of Zvornik, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia.
The defendants are accused of having, during the war and armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the end of May and the beginning of June 1992, in their capacity as officials of civil, military and police authorities, acted contrary to the rules of international humanitarian law, violating the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilians during the war.
They are accused of having participated in a wide and systematic attack on the civilian population of Bosniak nationality in the area of Zvornik and its surroundings, during which they, as co-perpetrators, planned and carried out, and helped plan, prepare and carry out the forced relocation of several thousand civilians of Bosniak nationality from the area of the village of Đulići , Klis and the surrounding villages, to the inhumane treatment of them, as well as the illegal imprisonment of a part of this population. During the persecution of the population, the murders of several Bosniak civilians were committed.
The accused Panić Petko is also accused of illegally separating from their family members about 600 Bosniak men and boys, aged 15 to 70, among whom were at least 28 children and minors, who were transported and illegally imprisoned in the Technical and Educational Center in Karakayu.
According to the indictment, the accused Petko Panić is accused of inhumane treatment of the Bosniak civilian population, and personally, together with the policemen under his command, together with unidentified Serbian soldiers, participated in the separation of the aforementioned civilians from their family members, thereby knowingly causing the separated men and present members of their families great suffering, as well as serious psychological injuries.
The defendants are accused of having committed a criminal offense – crimes against humanity.
The prosecution will prove the accusations by calling 204 witnesses, including five witnesses under protection measures, as well as more than 430 material evidence.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
