International Chess Tournament gathered Cadets and Juniors in Citluk

The sixth chess tournament “Brotnjo Open 2024” gathered 138 cadets and juniors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro in Bijakovići, a place near Čitluk, which is the third time hosting this largest and most important chess tournament for cadets and juniors in the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Competitors from Ljubuški, Čapljina, Ljubinje, Foča, Široki Brijeg, Sarajevo, Mostar, Split, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Vela Luka, Metković, Aržan, Kupres, Trebinje, Nikšić, as well as the hosts from Čitluk, compete in three categories.

82 chess players participate in the category up to 12 years old (younger cadets), 46 up to 16 years old (older cadets), while in the category up to 20 years old (juniors) there are 10 chess players, announced the organizers of the tournament.

The tournament is followed by grandmaster Milan Draško from Montenegro and international master Ivan Galić from Široki Brijeg, who held educational workshops with the participants the day before and played a simultaneity in which more than 40 children participated.

The organizer of the tournament is the Brotnjo Chess Club from Čitluk, together with the University of Herzegovina in whose premises the tournament is held, Fena news agency writes.
