Interpol has issued a warrant for Esed Abdagic, charged with the murder of a prisoner of war committed in Bihac in 1993, the Balkan Investigation Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIRN BiH) learned.

“The Cantonal Court in Bihac has issued an order for the forced arrest of Esed Abdagic, because he is not available to the judicial authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and an international warrant has been issued against the same person at the Court’s order,” BIRN Cantonal Court confirmed.

Earlier in July this year, the Cantonal Court in Bihac confirmed the indictment against Abdagic, a former member of the Fifth Corps of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ABiH), on which he was charged with war crimes against prisoners of war.

According to an earlier statement by the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Una-Sana Canton (USK), Abdagic is charged with repeatedly striking a prisoner of war in the Bihac District Prison in December 1993 as a member of the Second Krajina Corps of the Republika Srpska Army (VRS). ), who died shortly after suffering injuries.

According to the USK Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant is based in Iowa, United States.
