BiH has institutions that are necessary in order to protect the interests of BiH citizens, but officials in executive and legislative bodies have to ensure that these institutions have a practical and financial support in order to do their job, said the High Representative Valentin Inzko.

During yesterday’s visit to the Audit Office of BiH institutions in Sarajevo, he said that the role of the office is to ensure that every pfening assigned to BiH is calculated and placed in the appropriate place.

“The audit office is an integral part of the rule of law. It has a key role for better transparency and responsibility in the management of public funds’’, said the High Representative.

During a meeting with the chief auditor Milenko Šego, the High Representative was informed of the most important areas of the work of the audit office and of the issues that should be resolved in order to ensure that public money is used to benefit the public, and not for the benefit of special interests or political parties.
