Iran and Qatar today called for urgent efforts to end Israel’s attacks on Syrian infrastructure and its ongoing occupation of the Arab country.

In a phone call, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, discussed the latest developments in Syria, stressing the need to continue bilateral and multilateral consultations to help stabilize Syria and form an inclusive political system with the participation of the Syrian people, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, Israel has significantly increased its airstrikes across Syria, along with ground operations targeting key military infrastructure. The Israeli military has also moved into a demilitarized buffer zone established under the 1974 ceasefire agreement between Israel and Syria, taking control of border regions.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) condemned the US and Israeli attacks on Syrian infrastructure, calling them a continuation of “aggression and a violation of Syria’s sovereignty”.

In a statement on its official news agency Sepah News, the IRGC accused the United States and Israel of exploiting the current instability to target vital centers in Syria and interfere in the country’s internal affairs, Xinhua reported.
