Federal Minister of the Interior Ramo Isak today submitted a criminal complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the head of the Municipality of Sokolac, Milovan Bjelica, for glorifying the war criminal Radovan Karadžić.
The report was filed in accordance with the Law on Criminal Procedure of Bosnia and Herzegovina and due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that the Mayor of the Municipality of Skolac Milovan Bjelica committed the criminal offense of “Inciting national, racial and religious hatred, discord and intolerance” with his publicly stated views, which is punishable according to the provisions of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Isak stated in the criminal complaint that the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina clearly states that anyone who in any way glorifies a person convicted by a final verdict for genocide, crimes against humanity or war crimes will be punished with a prison sentence of at least three years, and he specifically pointed out as it is a question of criminal acts under the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Acts of glorifying war criminals, in addition to being a criminal offense punishable under the provisions of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, cause damage to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, relations between nations, and especially cause enormous pain to the families of genocide victims,” stated Isak in the criminal complaint.
Isak asked the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to immediately and without delay consider the report filed against the mayor of Sokolac Municipality, Milovan Bjelica, FMoI announced.
The mayor of Sokoc, Milovan Bjelica, dedicated the entire author’s text, which was published on the official website of that municipality, to convicted war criminal Radovan Karadžić.
