Israel releases 55 Prisoners, Ministers outraged: “We need new Leadership”

Palestinian media report that Israel has released and returned around 55 Palestinian prisoners to the Gaza Strip, including Shifa Hospital Director Mohammad Abu Salmiya.

Abu Salmiya was arrested by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops in November on suspicion of allowing Hamas to use the hospital as an operational center.

Video footage released by Palestinian media shows Abu Salmiya being welcomed in Gaza.

Israel claims that it regularly releases prisoners after determining they are not suspected of terrorist activities.

Following the release of the hospital director, several Israeli ministers expressed outrage in a WhatsApp group.

“Why has this man, in whose hospital hostages were killed and which operated as a Hamas command center, been set free,” wrote Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli.

Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi stated:

“Israel needs new security leadership, the sooner, the better.”, Klix.ba writes.
