Israel sets new Conditions for withdrawal from Gaza

Israel has established new conditions regarding its withdrawal from Gaza, the ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners and hostages, and the return of displaced Palestinians, delaying an agreement that was within reach, Hamas stated.

Negotiations on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange are taking place in Doha with mediation by Qatar and Egypt in a serious manner, Hamas said in a statement.

Israeli and Palestinian media reported that efforts led by Qatari, Egyptian, and United States (U.S.) mediators have shown progress, though an agreement remains out of reach.

Israel is conducting a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas’ attack on the southern Israeli border on October 7th, 2023, during which approximately 1.200 people were killed, and about 250 taken hostage.

The number of Palestinian casualties in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 45.361, according to health authorities in Gaza.
