Leicester’s Claudio Ranieri made historic success in the 2015/16 season. He took Leicester to the top of England’s soccer league.
The Italian revealed that he turned down Leicester’s bid to return to the club before Claude Puel was selected as the coach.
In an interview given to Corriere Dello Sport, Ranieri revealed that Leicester had called him back after Shakespeare had left, but he answered shortly and clearly: “No, thanks.”
Ranieri looked at the Champions League match between Chelsea and Rome. In London, a great game ended with a draw of 3:3 and the double scorer for the guests was Edin Dzeko.
“In the first game on Stamford Bridge they played great. Edin Dzeko was unstoppable. He’s a fantastic player. However, Roma will not be easy to defeat, although it’s a pleasure to watch Di Francesco’s team play. I think Roma will pass in the eighth-finals. Everything will be decided in Madrid, but the odds are on Roma’s side,” Ranieri said, adding:
“What’s Chelsea’s problem? Injuries that affected players and changes in the team. It’s not easy to switch from Diego Costa to Alvara Moratto. He was the first leader, carrying a team on his shoulders and playing with a rage, force and great will. The other is more a dribbler. When you change the attacker, you have to change the approach.”
