The Republic of Italy has donated 200 respiratory masks for patients in sub-intensive care who will be sent to hospitals in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, whose handover was delivered on Wednesday in Sarajevo, Fena news agency reports.
Federal Minister of Health Vjekoslav Mandic and Italy’s Ambassador to BiH Nicola Minasi stressed the importance of community, solidarity between people and states and the need for a united fight against Covid-19. In that context, Mandic said that citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and institutions have shown, through numerous activities, solidarity with Italy in the difficult times of the fight against coronaviruses.
“In this kind of situation during the pandemic, innovation proved to be very important, as in the example of your company that developed an innovative mechanism that allows, through 3D printing of special connection valves, to transform the usual mask for devices that can be connected to oxygen tubes for treatment patients undergoing intensive care and which has proven to be very effective in hospitals in Italy,” said Minister Mandic.
He also expressed his gratitude to the company Dekatlon Italy, and to the Italian company SM3 located in Tesanj, who carried this donation at their own expense, as well as to the engineering team that developed this system. Ambassador Minasi said this was only part of Italy’s assistance to BiH, and that these masks had become very famous in Italy.
“Diving masks have been adapted to assist patients in hospitals, and one ventilator can assist two patients,” Minasi said.
