Izetbegovic Announced Coffee With Covic: It’s Not Wise To Exclude The Strongest Croatian Party

SDA leader Bakir Izetbegovic announced on Saturday that this week he will have coffee with HDZ president Dragan Covic and that the electoral will of the people must be respected.

“As for Covic and HDZ, cooperation with them is unavoidable because they were placed in that position by the High Representative. They also represent the majority of Croatian votes. It is neither smart nor wise to exclude the strongest pro-Bosniak or pro-Bosnian party. Covic admitted he was wrong; he himself said he made a mistake,” Izetbegovic said.

Izetbegovic also believes that it is not wise to exclude the strongest Croatian party.

“By doing so, you insult the voters and the Croatian people. Covic proposed a meeting of delegations next week. I think he and I will have coffee. I don’t see the need for delegations now; that can be considered after the 2026 elections. One should talk to everyone, and I will be very glad to talk,” he added.

Asked about a coalition of pro-Bosnian parties, Izetbegovic said that he has repeatedly offered the so-called BiH bloc, but that the parties acted as they did.

“Now I will wait for them; they have matured,” he said.
