Izetbegovic: We will be happy to enter into Coalition with SBB and SNSD

Bakir Izetbegovic about Coalition bportal.baThe College of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) today held a session at the SDA Headquarters in Sarajevo. After the meeting, the President of the SDA and a member of the Presidency of B&H Bakir Izetbegovic addressed the journalists, pointing out that this party will be happy to enter into coalition with the Party for Better Future (SBB) and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD).

Izetbegovic also spoke about the current immigrants issue in Macedonia and Serbia, as well as about the status of Bosniaks in the RS.

“The Council of Ministers of B&H and the Government of the FB&H must urgently react in order to join in providing humanitarian assistance to the immigrants who are moving towards Europe via the Balkans. Moreover, a session of the Presidency of the SDA is in preparation, at which we will consider the status of Bosniaks in the RS, the attacks against Bosniaks, and the problems that have been piling up for years”, said Izetbegovic.

Izetbegovic commented on the meetings that the leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Dragan Covic held with the leaders of the SBB and SNSD Fahrudin Radoncic and Milorad Dodik lately.

“The SDA considers that the Council of Ministers of B&H and the Government of the FB&H are working very well. It would not be fair to criticize them, since we do not see any special problems regarding the work of these two Governments. Of course, it still means we must have 50 votes in the Parliament of the FB&H, but as we all know, the things are moving forward. The increased coalition capacity could be of good use”, Izetbegovic added.

Bakir Izetbegovic reiterated that the SDA signed the agreements with Savez za promjene and the Democratic Front (DF).

“We intend to stick with it. We adhere to those agreements except, of course, if any of those parties do not decide to leave the coalition, as it happened with the DF at the federal level. Also, the SDA recently signed the agreement with three parties at the federal level, and we intend to keep our word and stick to those agreements. The expansion of the coalition in terms of the discussions between the presidents of the HDZ, SNSD and SBB who would, according to them, give a powerful support to the stabilization of circumstances in the country and the reform course of B&H is quite a good thing”, said Izetbegovic.

Izetbegovic pointed out that the SDA, with its coalition capacities, will be happy to enter such an expanded coalition.

“In this case, I would not speculate about how this will affect the executive authority. However, with SBB and HDZ 1990 entering the government at the federal level, we would reach the two-third majority and we would be able to modify the Constitution of the FB&H”, Izetbegovic said.

Bakir Izetbegovic believes that no major changes will take place in the government at the state level, but that it would be good for the SDA to have SBB and HD 1990 with it at the federal level. Furthermore, he added that there are no indications of when he would meet with the leader of the SBB Fahrudin Radoncic.

“I would do it as soon as possible, surely I will be happy to respond”, Izetbegovic concluded.
