izetbegovic-welcomes-yee_1418125848Bakir Izetbegovic, member of the BiH Presidency, welcomed Hoyt Yee, U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state for Europe and Asia. They discussed the process of forming governments and program goals for the mandate period.

The discussants agreed that it is necessary to form legislative and executive governments at all levels as soon as possible, and that their action in the mandate period must be based on clearly defined reform programs and priorities.

They jointly considered that the newly elected authorities at all levels must prioritize implementing socioeconomic reforms, which will ensure economic stability, accelerated economic development, intensified employment, increased competitiveness of the BiH economy, and strong inflow of foreign investment. Aside from this, it is essential to dedicate attention to a more effective fight against corruption and crime, and fulfill key conditions to accelerate the process of Euro-Atlantic integrations, such as establishing a rational and efficient coordination mechanism in the process of European integrations and booking 63 locations of military property, in order to activate as soon as possible the Membership Action Plan in NATO, the BiH Presidency said in a statement.

Yee confirmed the U.S.’s strong commitment to continue to offer BiH strong support in implementing all necessary reforms in the process of Euro-Atlantic integrations.

On this occasion, Yee congratulated Izetbegovic on his reelection to the BiH Presidency and the SDA’s electoral victory, the statement reads.
