Jessica Stern klix.baJessica Stern, co-author of the book “IDIL: The State of Terror” and the former member of National Security Council of the American president Bill Clinton, stated yesterday in Sarajevo that IDIL invented a new religion, and that it attracts young people through social media in a way never seen before.

During the lecture Stern held at the Faculty of Criminal Justice, Criminology and Security Studies of the University of Sarajevo, she highlighted that it is especially unusual to which extent the IDIL uses social media and to which extent they are able to attract young people from different parts of society.

Stern added that many of them converted to Islam, and even those who are Muslims have been converted to this “new religion”.

Commenting on different conspiracy theories on the origin of IDIL, Stern said that those according to which the West is responsible for its appearance are present throughout the world, even in some communities in the USA; because parents of the children who joined them do not want to believe that their children would join such a terrible group which considers itself as a Muslim group.

Stern expressed belief that war in Iraq was a big mistake and that it significantly influenced the emergence of group which later evolved into IDIL.
